Most master limited partnerships focus on oil and gas midstream activities – gathering, processing, transportation, and storage – but some are involved with upstream oil & gas production or downstream operations such as refining and distribution. Most other MLPs are engaged in investment and financial activities, and there are a small number in real estate and miscellaneous businesses.
